EXPRESS ENTRY & PNP

Express Entry (EE) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Express Entry (EE) is an electronic application management system under Economic class. It was introduced in 2015 and it includes the following programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): based on the applicant’s ability
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): based on the applicant’s qualification in a skilled trade
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): a pathway for temporary residents with authorization to work in Canada to transit to PR
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): only some certain PNPs are allowed to use the EE process to select applicants to fill their regional labour shortage

The EE assesses the applicants based on their (and spouse’s/common-law partner’s):

  • age,
  • language ability,
  • education, and
  • Canadian and foreign work experience.

First, points are assigned for each of those categories under Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Then, the candidate’s application sits in a “pool” waiting for an “invitation to apply” (ITA) to be issued. The maximum score of CRS is 1200; however, in the past approximately one year, the average minimum CRS score needed in order to receive ITA (for Federal) has ranged between 460 to 472.

There are various ways to increase your CRS score if it is below the minimum. Please contact V-Land Immigration and consult with our immigration experts to learn how to boost your score to become a Canadian permanent resident (PR).
